The National Weather Service office in San Diego is forecasting a deep marine layer and cooler weather through the Mother’s Day weekend.

High temperatures will be in 60s along the coast and 70s inland, with gusty winds developing in the mountains.

“An upper level trough moving inland over California will result in stronger onshore flow, higher humidity, and cooler weather through the weekend,” forecasters said. “Expect a deeper marine layer with more extensive low clouds and patchy fog well inland each night and morning.”

Areas of fog will reduce visibility to 1 mile or less in some inland areas, the weather service said, potentially resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Building high pressure is expected to produce warmer temperatures and less coastal cloudiness toward the middle of next week.
