Dolly Parton Says She Won’t Jump The Line To Get Vaccinated: ‘I’m Going To Wait’

Famous Hollywood personality Dolly Parton has revealed that she has not gotten the COVID-19 vaccine yet and that she would only take the shot after those who badly need it.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the 75-year-old singer-turned-actress opened up about the contribution she made for vaccine research and if she would be taking some time off her busy schedule to get vaccinated.

Parton noted that she won’t be “jumping the line” to get the vaccine and would wait for her turn. She also explained that donating money for research doesn’t mean she would be receiving the vaccine earlier than the ones who really need the shot.

“I’m not going to get mine until some more people get theirs. I don’t want it to look like I’m jumping the line just because I donated money. I’m very funny about that. I’m going to get mine though, but I’m going to wait,” AP quoted Parton as saying.

The “Jolene” hitmaker also explained that she could have gotten the vaccine easily and thought of taking it on her 75th birthday, but she later dropped the idea.

“I’m at the age where I could have gotten mine legally last week. I turned 75. I was going to do it on my birthday, and I thought, ‘Nah, don’t do that. You’ll look like you’re just doing a show.’ None of my work is really like that,” Parton said during the interview.

The actress also shared that she is ready to take the shot on camera as she wants others to join the vaccination program as well.

“When I get it, I’ll probably do it on camera so people will know and I’ll tell them the truth if I have symptoms and all that,” Parton added.

Later in the interview, she also opened up about the $1 million donation she made for coronavirus research at the start of the pandemic. Parton said that as soon as the pandemic hit the U.S., she wanted to help the scientists and doctors in making a vaccine.

She discussed it with people at Vanderbilt University and made the donation afterward.

“I get a lot more credit than I deserve I think, but I was just happy to be a part of any and all of that,” Parton said.

A lot of Hollywood veterans have already taken the vaccine and are currently waiting for the second dosage. Notable personalities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Martin, Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, and Samuel L. Jackson have already gotten their shots.
