San Diego – Hundreds of pro-Palestinian supporters marched downtown San Diego, seeking Palestinian rights and honoring those killed in Gaza during the 11-day war between Hamas and Israel.
The Sunday rally was the third demonstration held by the Palestinian Youth Movement last week.
The group also gathered on Wednesday in preparation for delivering a letter of action to San Diego County authorities.
“We issued a statement to officials condemning the Israeli state and the slaughter of Palestinians, raised the rights of Palestinians, sent US police to the Israeli army to end US training, and came here. To brutally call on our brown and black brothers to be brutal, and to support parliamentary and federal legislation supporting Palestinian rights, “said Jenine Erikat of the San Diego branch of the Palestinian Youth Movement. It was.
Erikat wants San Diego to support Palestine and call on local leaders to listen.
“Listen to the people on earth and Palestine who have been doing this work for years and are resisting, and listen to their voices,” Elikat said.
Alam Mutaseb from Murita marched with his family and said he wanted the United States to stop supporting the Israeli army. “Stop sending about $ 3.8 billion a year in military aid to Israel and use this in our community. We need them here. We are suffering from ours. We need to support social programs for the community, “Muhtaseb said.
Rabi Yair Yelin of Chabad of San Marcos understands that this is a difficult conflict, but says he wants to let people know that the secret to getting rid of darkness is light.
“We are surrounded by so much evil and so much suffering that how to make it better for ourselves, our family, our neighborhood, and our surroundings. We have to do our best to see if we can do it, “Yerin said.
The Palestinian Youth Movement will deliver the letter directly on Wednesday, May 26, at 4 pm in the Federal Building in downtown San Diego.
