‘Mental Hacks’ is topic for virtual workshop
“Mental Hacks to Rock 2021” is a virtual workshop offered by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 25. Start the year off with a reboot and restoration of your mental health. This session will identify challenges that affect resiliency and disrupt productivity. Speakers are Lela Panagides, MBA, founder and president of Leap Into Leadership, a leadership development company; and Dr. Sara Gilman, CEO, clinical director, Coherence Associates Inc., which provides mental health treatment for clients within a collaborative professional team environment. Holiday Wine Trail back on schedule
The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce announces that its Holiday Wine Trail, which had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, is back on schedule. Now running from Saturday to March 14, the trail is an opportunity to learn about and support local wineries. Cost is $20, which includes lanyard and badge, souvenir wine glass and passport. AHA cites agencies for health goals
Several local organizations recently were named by the American Heart Association as Workplace Health Achievement 2020 Recognized Organizations. They were cited for their implementation of quality workplace health programs and health best practices. The organizations are: Gold Level, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, worksite size 250-749 employees; Oceanside Unified School District, 750 to 4,999 employees; and San Diego Unified School District, greater than 5,000 employees. Bronze Level recognition went to the Poway Unified School District, 750 to 4,999 employees.
New executive director at Pro Kids
Julie Dubick has been named as the new executive director of Pro Kids-First Tee, which provides resources for families throughout the county and especially in City Heights and Oceanside. Dubick was the chief of staff to former Mayor Jerry Sanders, and a former partner in the law firm Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek. She is a partner at H.G. Consulting Group LLC and an adjunct professor of law at California Western School of Law. Pro Kids members have access to golf immersion and professional instruction, age-appropriate introductions to a variety of new subjects, educational enrichment, and extra-curricular activities. Library offers Coursera job programs
The Oceanside Public Library is making the Coursera series of job-related courses and certificate programs available to city residents. Coursera can help unemployed, furloughed or employed part-time workers learn in-demand skills and discover paths to new jobs or career advancement. Oceanside Public Library card holders eligible for the program can choose from more than 3,000 options on the Coursera.org learning platform. Courses are fully online; work at your own pace. The nonprofit Friends of the Oceanside Public Library turns 50 this year, and to celebrate, the organization has created new membership opportunities for city businesses. For 2021 only, local businesses can become annual members for just $50. Members will be able to continue their $50 annual membership into the future. Other levels are Business Bronze, $100; Business Silver, $250; Business Gold, $500; and Business Platinum, $1,000 and above. New Business Friends of the Oceanside Public Library will have their businesses listed in future issues of the See Gull Newsletter.
