A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday night on south Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian — reportedly a man — was hit about 9:05 p.m. near the Front Street exit to the Civic Center, according to a CHP incident log. He ended up near the freeway’s center divider.
Few other details about the crash or the victim were immediately available. He apparently died at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol.
Southbound lanes of the freeway were briefly shut down as emergency crews and investigators responded to the scene.
