Morgan unexpectedly quit “GMB” after an argument over his comments on Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. He expressed his disbelief in Markle’s revelations that she was suicidal and many took it against him and called him racist.
For the first time following his departure from the show, Morgan penned an article for Daily Mail addressing the issue. He felt that “questioning Meghan’s fork-tongued ‘truth’ is now a racist hate crime.”
“I was trending too, with people saying I was ‘racist’ and ‘mocking mental illness’ by disbelieving Meghan’s claims, and demanding I be fired,” he wrote. “It didn’t matter that I’ve never said anything racist about her or that my only comments about her race have been to repeatedly say how great it was that a bi-racial woman married into the Royal Family.”
For Morgan, the treatment Markle received when she was in the palace was not worse than other royal brides including Princess Diana, Sarah Ferguson, Camilla Parker-Bowles and Kate Middleton even to American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. As he continued to question Markle’s truth, more and more went after Morgan and according to him, the social media pile-on against him intensified with him and his children receiving death threats.
“I’ve always subscribed to the ‘if you dish it out, you’ve got to take it’ philosophy,” he wrote. “But my three sons told me they too are all being targeted, and sent me screenshots of venomous abuse and threats of violence towards them, which made my stomach churn, especially as police are already investigating a death threat made to me and my eldest boy Spencer last month.”
None of Morgan’s children care about Markle and her views, but a Twitter troll mob has “found them guilty by association,” he added. One of the trolls even threatened to murder him in front of them.
“One troll vowed to murder me in front of them, and added: ‘When your dad dies, the world will have a party,'” Morgan continued.
Morgan’s friend Sharon Osbourne also got into a heated argument against her “The Talk” co-hosts in one episode after Prince Harry and Markle’s tell-all. Osbourne got emotional as her co-hosts questioned her for defending Morgan. So, he demanded an apology from Osbourne’s co-hosts.
“Sharon’s been shamed & bullied into apologizing for defending me against colleagues accusing me of racism because I don’t believe Meghan Markle’s bulls–t. This is where we’ve reached,” he wrote. “I demand an apology from those @TheTalkCBS bullies for their disgraceful slurs against ME.”
“The Talk” has been put on hiatus and Osbourne will not be returning to the show.
