The Prince of Wales is among those who are devastated by the ongoing tensions between the Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex. Prince Charles had complicated relationships with the two, so he is finding it hard to intervene to hopefully end the discord between them.
Prince Charles is “shellshocked by it all,” an unnamed source told People. “He is very hurt and upset [by the ongoing fallout].”
The latest exploration about Prince William and Prince Harry’s fractured relationship came to light after royal historian Robert Lacey released additional chapters for his book “Battle of Brothers: William, Harry and the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult.”
Lacey claimed in his book that things worsened again in October 2018 due to the bullying allegations against Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Cambridge allegedly “went ballistic” after hearing the bullying concerns and was “astonished and horrified” by the complaints against the Duchess of Sussex who allegedly undermined “some precious principles of the monarchy.”
Prince William immediately contacted his younger brother. However, Prince Harry was reportedly “furious” that his older sibling was more inclined to believe palace employees than him and his wife. The issue allegedly resulted in a “showdown.” At that point, Prince William decided to have a separate household from the Sussexes.
“William wished to be separated from Meghan on a day-to-day basis — and that meant being separated from his brother as well,” Lacey wrote. “‘William,’ says a friend, ‘threw Harry out.'”
Prince Harry also allegedly has a complicated relationship with his dad at present. Royal expert Nick Bullen told Us Weekly that Prince Charles was “hurt” and “disappointed” by Prince Harry’s comment on his parenting approach.
“Just because you suffered, it doesn’t mean that your kids have to suffer,” Prince Harry said in “The Me You Can’t See” documentary. “In fact, quite the opposite. If you suffered, do everything you can to make sure that whatever experiences, negative experiences that you had, you can make it right for your kids.”
Meanwhile, royal biographer Robert Jobson slammed Prince Harry for his words against Prince Charles after he seemingly criticized the Prince of Wales’ parenting shortly after the latter lost his own dad, Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on April 9.
“He’s talking about his father, who’s just lost his own dad, going through his own traumas and mental health issues. Surely he should support Charles now more than ever and I don’t know why he’s done it,” Jobson told Page Six.
“[Prince Harry] is very self-indulged. He doesn’t seem to care about anybody’s feelings but himself. His father has just lost his own father, his grandmother has just lost her husband, her confidant of over 70 years, so for me, it’s quite selfish,” Jobson continued.
