The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 711 new cases of coronavirus Saturday and 19 more deaths from the pandemic disease.
Out of 18,194 test results received in the past day, 3.9% were positive, and the 14-day rolling average of positive tests ticked down to 5.0%.
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 continued to trend down, decreasing by 56 people to 675. The number in intensive care declined by eight patients to 224.
The downward trend in new cases and hospitalizations in San Diego began in mid January and public health officials are hopeful that vaccinations will ensure the trend continues.
Since the first local case in March, there have been a total of 256,513 cases and 3,188 deaths in San Diego County.
