A 30-year-old man riding a scooter was struck and injured Sunday by a 67-year-old woman driving an SUV near Mission Beach, police said.
The crash took place on West Mission Drive near Mission Bay Park about 1:25 p.m. when the woman, in an eastbound Ford Escape, drifted to the right and hit the scooter as she drove across a bridge, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said. He said the scooter rider was in a bike lane.
Medics took the man to a hospital for treatment of a brain bleed and road rash. He was expected to survive, Buttle said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, Buttle said.
