Prince Harry Wanted To Rock The Boat With His, Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview: Report

KEY POINTS

  • Prince Harry knew what he was doing when he agreed to do the interview with Oprah Winfrey
  • The Duke of Sussex was not surprised and had no regrets after doing his bombshell tell-all
  • Royal expert Ingrid Seward couldn’t understand why the Sussexes had to unburden themselves to Oprah

Prince Harry was reportedly aware that his and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey would stir the royal family, but he still did it.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made several allegations against the royal family in their tell-all interview with Oprah. An insider said the duke was aware of the repercussions of their interview and did it because he allegedly wanted to rock the boat.

“He knew what he was doing,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward told Page Six. “I can swear to you that, and he wanted to rock that boat. Quite why, I don’t understand, but he did want to. And then he did, and I don’t think he’s surprised by the repercussions or that he regrets it for a moment.”

The author of “William & Harry” didn’t understand why Prince Harry and Markle had to unburden themselves to Oprah. She also couldn’t grasp why Markle had to say her request for mental health assistance was rejected by the Buckingham Palace.

“I find that so difficult to understand … what she was trying to tell us there,” Seward continued. “You don’t go to the HR department in the UK. You go and see a doctor, or you say to your husband, ‘Darling, I feel dreadful, I need you to find someone.’ Harry was in therapy himself, so he must have known people.”

Seward felt Markle struggled with being a royal because “she has always had a voice and I think she just didn’t understand that as a royal duchess, you can’t have a voice.” Also, she thought Prince Harry failed to explain to his wife that being a royal means “it’s about the monarchy” and not about them being celebrities.

Royal expert Robert Jobson, author of “Prince Philip’s Century,” also said Prince Harry was mainly to blame for Megxit. Just like Seward, he believed that Prince William’s younger brother didn’t prepare his wife for the life as a member of the British royal family.

“It’s a combination of Harry and Meghan’s fault, mainly Harry for not explaining it to her properly,” he told Page Six. “He’s not the sharpest guy, but maybe he didn’t want to explain it. It’s hard work being a member of the royal family. People think it’s not but it is. It’s not glamorous and maybe she didn’t fancy that after at all.”

Although he believed Prince Harry should have exerted more effort in making Markle understand the life of a royal, he claimed that the duchess should have done her part in knowing the ins and outs before marrying into the royal family.

“It’s up to you to do your own homework if you want to marry into a prestigious family,” he added.
